The mission of the Building Department is to provide a high level of service to the taxpayer, while ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the citizens of the Town.

The Building Department is responsible for the implementation of the Rhode Island Building Codes, Minimum Housing Code and the implementation and enforcement of the Town Zoning Ordinances.

The Building Department directs building project applicants through the requirements of zoning, permitting process, plan review, and conducts mandatory inspections for all projects.

The Building Department also initiates enforcement actions for violations of the Minimum Housing code or the Town Zoning Ordinances.
