Adult Beginner Tennis Clinic

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Upper Tennis Courts

When: Mondays from 10:00AM-11:00AM

Dates: 4/18-5/16/2022, 5 sessions

Cost: $100

This clinic is for beginner tennis players looking to learn the skills of the game. It will be taught by Amanda Gooding, who is an L.T.A. qualified tennis instructor.  This class will focus on tennis drills, skills, footwork and coordination. These clinics will allow participants to grow and better understand the game of tennis. Balls will be provided, please bring your own racquet. Make sure to bring water and please come to each clinic dressed in comfortable, athletic wear or tennis shoes and sneakers.

Adult Refresher Tennis Clinic

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Upper Tennis Courts

When: Mondays from 11:00AM-12:00PM

Dates: 4/18-5/16/2022, 5 sessions

Cost: $80

This clinic is for those with some tennis experience looking to refresh their skills, it will be taught by Amanda Gooding, who is a, L.T.A qualified tennis instructor. Adult Pickleball 10am-11:30am Thurs Beginners

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Jamestown Recreation Center Gymnasium

When: Thursday, 10:00AM-11:30AM

Dates: 4/21-5/12/2022, 4 sessions

Cost: $80

Come learn to play this popular and growing sport against players at/near your skill level with a USPTA certified pickleball instructor. This session is for the beginner pickle-ball player, either new to the sport or just starting out. Space is limited to 8 players per 1.5 hour session so sign up today!

 

Adult Pickleball 11am-1pm Tues Intermediate/Advanced

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Jamestown Recreation Center Gymnasium

When: Tuesdays, 11:00AM-1:00PM

Dates: 4/12-5/17/2022, 6 sessions

Cost: $20

Come play this popular and growing sport against players at/near your skill level. This session is for the more advanced pickle-ball player.  A strong knowledge of the game and higher level of play can be expected. Space is limited to 10 players per 2 hour session so sign up today!

Adult Pickleball 1pm-3pm Tues Intermediate/Advanced

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Adult Tai Chi: Intermediate

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Jamestown Recreation Center Gymnasium

When: Wednesday, 5:00PM-6:00PM

Dates: 3/23-5/11/2022, 8 sessions

Cost: Resident, $80; Non-resident, $90

This intermediate level class will build upon the fine art of Tai Chi with participants. Each week your instructor will help guide you through what will seem like an effortless but meaningful journey. Tai Chi is the gentle way to fight stress.  It is a non-competitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercises and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause. it is known to help improve flexibility and balance.  Enrollment is limited. Previous experience is preferred.

Adult Tai Chi: Advanced

Who: Adults, 18 years old and up

Where: Jamestown Recreation Center Gymnasium

When: Wednesday, 6:00PM-7:00PM

Dates: 3/23-5/11/2022, 8 sessions

Cost: Resident, $80; Non-resident, $90

Tai chi... The gentle way to fight stress. This class is for those with prior experience in Tai Chi. This is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause. Tai Chi is known to reduce stress and anxiety. And it also helps improve flexibility and balance. Don't miss out! Enrollment limited.

 

Youth/Teen Center Programs:

 

Beginner Mountain Biking @ Ryan Park

Who: Grade 4-8th

Where: Ryan Park

When: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:45PM

Dates: 4/12-5/10/2022, excluding 4/19/2022 due to vacation; 4 sessions

Cost: $100

This program is for bikers new to trail riding. Riders will learn trail etiquette and the basic skills to enjoy the trails, such as body positioning, balance, braking, and shifting. Rides will be at a pace comfortable for all riders as we ascend and descend hills and travel over and around roots and rocks.

Instructor Jenny Talancy is CPR-certified and an assistant coach for NEHSCA, a New England youth mountain biking group.

 

Requirements:

Bikes must have working front and rear brakes and gears.

Bikes must have knobby tires made for off-road (not hybrid tires).

Riders must wear a properly fitted helmet. (Stedman's and NBX sell helmets.)

Riders must carry water in a pack or bike cage.

 

*Please note that arriving on time is very important for this program

Who: Grade 4-8th

Where: Teen Center

When: Wednesday, 3:00-4:00PM

Dates: 4/13-5/18/2022, 6 sessions

Our Winter ukulele program was so successful, we decided to bring it back for a Spring session! In this program you will learn the basics of ukulele like how to tune your instrument, strumming, basic chords, and practicing beginner level songs. Our instructor Josie is a self-taught musician and has been playing ukulele for 6 years. Participants must bring their own ukulele; instruments will not be provided.

Magic (MTG) and Movie Fridays

Who: 5th grade & up

Where: Jamestown Teen Center

When: Select Friday Nights from 4-8 PM

Dates: 4/15, 4/29, 5/13, and 5/27

Cost: $30

Attention Middle Schoolers! Join us on some Fridays this Spring for a night of fun and fantasy. Magic The Gathering is a fantasy card game that is seeing a resurgence in popularity. Whether you already play the game, or want to learn, everyone is welcome. This club will offer instruction in the rules of the base game, different play styles and allow youth to play a fun, engaging game with their peers. Bring your own cards if you have them. However, decks will be available to play with. Not interested in Magic? You can still join the fun as we will be watching some age appropriate movies/shows in the fantasy/sci genre.
