Youth Commission
Jamestown Youth Commission
The Jamestown Youth Commission consists of Jamestown youth appointees who are in grades 5-12. The Commission works with the Parks and Recreation Department to identify projects, activities, events, and programs that benefit Jamestown youth and broader community. Started with joint funding from a Learn365 state grant and matching funds from the department in 2023, the Commission is aimed at empowering the Island's youth to develop skills to become leaders in their community and have their voice be heard on issues that matter to them. The Commission achieves this mission with a mixture of fundraising, advocacy, and assisting with the planning and operation of department activities to make a lasting impact, fostering an environment where the youth not only have a say in their future, but actively contribute to its positive evolution.
