The Planning and Zoning Department plans for Jamestown’s future while respecting its past. The Department assists the community in developing a future vision and guides physical, social, and economic change within the Town while respecting the Town’s overall Goal of maintaining its rural character. The Planning Department consists of the Director of Planning and Zoning Planner and additional clerical staff. The Director of Planning and Zoning, under the direction of the Town Administrator, provides professional planning and community development services for the Town in the following areas:
- Comprehensive Planning and Specific Duties for the Planning Commission
- Development, Administration and Integration of Planning Programs including
- Affordable Housing
- Public Facilities Planning
- Environmental Conservation
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Administration of Land Use Regulations
- Coordination with Town Boards, Departments and Agencies
- Coordination with Federal and State Agencies
- Grant Application and Administration
