Officer James Chaves

Officer Chaves was hired by the Jamestown Police Department in January of 2012 and is a graduate of the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.  He is currently assigned as a patrol officer on the split shift (2 days 11pm - 7am & 2 days 3pm - 11pm).  Officer Chaves served in the United States Army from October 2006 to August 2010, and is a veteran of the Iraq War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served two tours of duty. Officer Chaves serves as the Department's Senior Advocate, one of the Department's Crime Prevention Specialists, the Department's A.L.I.C.E. Instructor (Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate), one of the Department's RAD Instructors (Rape Aggression Defense), and one of the Department's Field Training Officer.
