In July of 2015, Vision Government Solutions, the town’s revaluation contractor, began inspecting Jamestown properties as part of a three year, state mandated Statistical Revaluation program. Properties that have sold during the years 2013 thru 2015 are being inspected and their sale prices analyzed to determine the appropriate assessments for all Jamestown real estate as of December 31, 2015. These new values will become the basis for the tax bills that will be sent out in August of 2016, for fiscal year 2016-17.
In the spring of 2016, once the new values have been determined, Vision will notify owners of their new property assessments. At that time, owners may scheduled informal hearings with Vision to discuss or to dispute these values. The tax assessor encourages all property owners to review their new assessments and to take advantage of the informal hearings when necessary.
